In a society that is changing, in which the fluidity of gender identity is one of the first steps towards a real revolution, people who want to wear shoes that are still considered non- ordinary can no longer be neglected.
VIRILI was created with the intention of satisfying a wider slice of the market. A line of shoes that winks at the world of women’s footwear and, specifically, heels, adapting to the anatomy and proportions of large sizes. A work made of research and analysis of current and future trends with careful attention to detail and choice of materials, and with a completely made in Italy production.
Identity is changeable, in constant movement and transformation, it is like words, it acquires new meanings over time, adapting to the reality that surrounds us. A reality that deforms, expands and changes, where the old meanings become the new signifiers.
In Latin the word virilis represents, in a figurative sense, strength, courage and vigor; all meanings usually associated with the sphere of the masculine.
Starting from this concept, we decided to deconstruct the meaning of the word VIRILI and its masculine meaning, making it instead a manifest of freedom: we want anyone with high heels to feel powerful and virile, regardless of their gender identity, representing a modern idea of non-binary beauty, which can subvert any pre-set social order and pattern.
The creative duo made up of Davide Favetta and Daniele Ragosta, both born in 1991 and raised in the province of Naples and longtime friends, united by many dreams and passions. They decide to launch the VIRILI project, a way to express their essence and above all to open discussions on the new perception of themselves in the world. Themes such as contemporaneity and identity are fundamental for them, in a period where there is so much fashion, so many shows, collections and pre-collections that it is not enough just to create clothes or accessories. To stand out, you need to create a universe in which people can find themselves and identify, feel part of something that represents them.
